A delegation from the Department of Heritage Resources Management and Conservation participates in the training program for the conservation and restoration of antiquities in Italy

A delegation from the University of Jordan participated in the training program in the conservation and restoration of archeology, which was held in Turin, Italy. In Chemistry (3 undergraduate students in the Department of Heritage Resources Management and Conservation) ,From 12/11/2012 to 17/11/2012. Within the activities of the project of the application of some chemical methods in the preservation of the archaeological sits in Jordan "JOCHERA-Jordan Conservation of Cultural Heritage in ERA" supported by the European Union in the Hamdi Mango Center for Scientific Research at the University of Jordan.

The new training program dealt with the preservation of the cultural heritage by modern scientific techniques to diagnose and study the damage of archaeological materials, as well as the foundations for the development and production of new materials for the maintenance and preservation of organic and inorganic archaeological materials and archaeological buildings. The delegation was also briefed on the latest preventive maintenance techniques in museums using scientific instruments developed in the laboratories of the University of Technical Sciences in Turin, Italy. The program included field visits to several archaeological sites where restoration and conservation works are carried out, as well as several archaeological and heritage museums in Italy.​
