Program Specifications

Bachelor of Tourism Management / Program Intended Learning Outcomes

It is expected that the program will provide opportunities for students to develop and demonstrate

knowledge and understanding, skills and competencies and other properties in the following fields:

o Preserve concepts and basic theories in the field of tourism industry and management.

o Scientific thinking and logical analysis in dealing with issues related to tourism science through

research projects.

o Apply the acquired language skills and knowledge in the various functional fields of the tourism

sector.

o Master the usage of tourist software systems in the field of hotels and tourism agencies.

o Analyze the importance of tourism and its positive and negative impacts on local communities.

o Design research projects related to the management, marketing and development of tourist

destinations.

o The ability of self-development and innovation to cope with the rapid changes in the tourism sector

through systematic and non-curricular activities.

o Apply the art of dealing and effective dialogue with tourists and local communities to improve the

Jordanian tourism industry.​

Bachelor of Tourism Management / Program Intended Learning Outcomes

 

1.     Demonstrates a deep understanding of theoretical concepts in the various fields of tourism science as one of the social sciences, which includes heritage, historical, environmental, administrative, economic, behavioural and linguistic dimensions, and realizes its importance in the field of tourism and sustainable tourism.

2.     Appreciate the importance of the tourism sector in its social, economic, cultural and environmental dimensions to local communities and the world.

3.     Practice critical thinking and problem solving in applying theoretical concepts in the field of work in the tourism sector and related businesses through practical training programs.

4.     Realize the structure of the tourism sector in both local and international level, and the most important influencers in the sector, in addition to the most important challenges and opportunities in the tourism sector.

5.     Analyze the business environment of the tourism sector and its competitiveness at the micro and macro levels, influences in strategic planning, management of tourism business, management and marketing of tourist destinations and events.

6.     Apply computer, linguistic, financial and administrative skills in the field of reservations (software systems) in various tourist works and organize events.

7.     Demonstrate the commitment in the following aspects (the lifelong learning and teamwork, owning the skill of scientific research, analysis, interpretation, verbal, logical, and mathematical processing of information, the ability to think critically and solve problems, and uses technology to monitor, manage, analyse and transfer information to generate knowledge and employ it for future uses).

        his/her rights and duties within the community’s               value system and general morals, and having self-  confidence and independence, and communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing with others.
