Lecture on "Arabic Epigraphy"

The Department of Archaeology at the College of Archaeology and Tourism held a scientific lecture titled Arabic Writing and Mapping Discoveries Over a Century," presented by Fanny Rauwel, a PhD student at Aix-Marseille University in France.

The researcher began by discussing the evolution of studies, writings, and epigraphy over the past century, highlighting the importance of historical context and the benefits of the electronic revolution that started in the late twentieth century. Her study focused on compiling maps of the Arab world that include archaeological sites featuring Arabic inscriptions and writings.

The research documented approximately 780 sites containing Arabic inscriptions and writings, primarily concentrated in **Egypt** and the Levant. The researcher praised the continuous development of epigraphy studies over more than a hundred years, particularly in Jordan, unlike some neighboring countries where these activities have ceased due to various circumstances.

The session and the subsequent discussions were moderated by Professor Dr. Khalid Al-Jbour
