Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Arainat participated in the first preparatory workshop for the "Jordan Memory Project"

Dr. Mahmoud Arainat, participated on Monday, January 7, 2020, in a workshop organized by the Ministry of Culture titled "Ministry of Culture organizes the first preparatory workshop for the Jordan Memory Project within the Memory of a Nation program." The workshop, held at the Royal Cultural Center, aimed to discuss ways to preserve Jordan's documentary heritage and archive it in collaboration with relevant entities to enhance Jordanian identity and contribute to the cultural heritage.

The Ministry seeks to organize and unify national efforts in preserving and protecting Jordan's national memory, whether undertaken by its departments and directorates in documentation and preservation of cultural and documentary heritage or by state institutions, aiming to unify efforts into a single national project while maintaining the independence of each institution's efforts. This is to unify work methodologies, ensure non-duplication of efforts, and create a harmonious national atmosphere conducive to supporting the building and protection of national memory.

The "First Preparatory Workshop for the Jordan Memory Project" coincides with Jordan's upcoming centennial celebrations and is part of the Ministry's efforts in this regard. One of the main objectives is to preserve and protect national memory using various protection methods, as strong memory is a component of contemporary state power and societal strength. National memory serves not only as a repository of collective memories but also as a means to instill pride in national identity, constituting the primary component of cultural identity and facilitating the transfer of heritage between generations.
