Success Stories of College of Archaeology and Tourism Graduates

The College of Archaeology and Tourism at the University of Jordan presented a number of success stories of its graduates, as well as live stories of successful entrepreneurial projects by current students, within the event "Yahka Ann" (It's said that).

Aligned with the strategic goals of the University of Jordan in investing in alumni relations and maintaining continuous coordination and follow-up with them, the Assistant Dean's Office for Student Affairs, Dr. Muna Salihat, and the Assistant Dean's Office for Alumni Affairs, Ms. Lubna Al-Hijawi, organized the event "Success Stories" on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, under the patronage of the Dean of the School, represented by Dr. Adnan Al-Shayeb, in recognition of a group of distinguished graduates who have excelled in various professional fields and proven their competence and success.

The ceremony commenced with recitation of verses from Quran, followed by a welcoming speech from the Deputy Dean and representative of the ceremony sponsor, expressing pride in organizing such an event to honor a group of our students whose excellence has not only been limited to the university but has transcended it, becoming exemplary ambassadors for the college and the university in various positions and centers.

The first session included three success stories narrated by the graduates themselves, moderated by Dr. Nizar Turshan from the Department of Archaeology, who expressed his gratitude to all the students who have overcome difficult circumstances and challenges to achieve great success. The speakers in the first session were: Nermine Al-Ashqar (Training Manager/Restorer - Sela Training and Heritage Preservation Company), Abada Al-Farjat (Archaeological Inspector - Ma'an Antiquities Office, and Field Survey Project Manager in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Petra), and Bushra Al-Dabbas (Master's student in Archaeology and works at the Public Antiquities Directorate).

The second session also featured three success stories narrated by the graduates themselves, moderated by Dr. Ismail Abu Aamoud from the Department of Tourism Management, who emphasized that life is full of challenges that we must not stumble upon, but rather gather and build a ladder to ascend towards success. The speakers in the second session were: Ahmed Khairy (News Presenter and Editor - University of Jordan Radio), Ahed Al-Tamimi (ICOMOS Jordan and Mashka Initiative), and Wajd Al-Nawafleh (Head of Maintenance and Restoration Department - Petra Archaeological Park).

The final session, moderated by Dr. Yazan Al-Zein, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, showcased live stories of successful entrepreneurial projects by a number of students who are still in their academic journey: Anas Amarnah (Ba'yon Ahl Al-Balad Project), Dania Al-Attiyat (Modern Clothing with a Heritage Flavor Project), and Afnan Al-Damisi (Jordan Adventures).

At the end of the event, the Dean, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Arayneh, presented commemorative shields to the participants as a token of appreciation for their contributions and excellence.

Special thanks to all those who contributed to the success of this event, including the faculty members who moderated the sessions, our dear students, our honorable guests, Ms. Hana Bani Ata, Quality and Development Liaison Officer, for her dedication and continuous cooperation, and last but not least, students Abdul Rahman Dahbour, the master of ceremonies, and Taher Al-Zu'bi, who assisted us in covering the event.
