Friends of Museums / University of Jordan



Definition of Friends of Museums: They are university students, at School of Archaeology and Tourism. The work of Friends of Museums is based on voluntary participation. Friends of Museums share the goal of supporting museums, contributing to their development, recognition, and impact among the general public.

The aim of establishing a Friends of Museums team:
  1. to engage and train students to work within museums
  2. gaining experience through tasks assigned to them by museum curators under their supervision
  3. refining students' personalities, and preparing them for the job market.

They are expected to serve as a community service point or engage in voluntary work, and they will receive a certificate of experience in voluntary work in museums.

Membership Requirements:
- Must be enrolled in university (first year, second year, third year).
- Must have good appearance and behavior.
- Must have the ability to work voluntarily both within and outside the university.
- Minimum cumulative GPA.
- Membership is for a full year.

Tasks assigned to Friends of Museums:
- Explanation to groups, whether they are university students or external delegations.
- Assistance in organizing activities and celebrations held in museums.
- Participation in awareness campaigns in schools.
- Introducing university students to the existence of museums through collaborative initiatives.
- Participating in and assisting museum staff as needed in museum tasks such as artifact transportation, imaging, cleaning, registration, or any other tasks.
- Permanent presence in museums (outside their lecture schedules).
