The Department of Archaeology at the University of Jordan is launching an intensive set of practical courses in archaeology. The program consists of four months focusing in practical aspects of pottery studies, lithic studies, and archaeological excavation techniques. The program is targeting local and international students from all over the world who are interested in Ancient Near East as well as in the archaeology of the southern Levant.  The department carries field excavations at several sites covering different periods such as Neolithic period, Bronze and Iron Ages, and Classical and Islamic periods.  When joining the program, students will enjoy the field training and a dedicated program of guided tours to various Jordanian heritage, cultural, natural sites.

Students participating in this program will be taught the principles and techniques of field survey and excavation, and will learn the necessary skills that are needed to deal appropriately with excavated areas.  This will be reached through both the workshops and on-site practical experience.​
