As part of its educational and scientific activities, the Department of Tourism management organized an exploratory scientific trip to the historic sites of Machaerus and Umm ar-Rasas, offering participants a close look at these culturally and historically significant locations. The trip was accompanied by Dr. Nada Al-Rawabdeh, who provided comprehensive explanations about the history of the sites and their importance in Jordanian heritage.
The journey began with a visit to Machaerus, a site famous in history as the location where Prophet John (Yahya) was martyred. The group then moved on to Umm ar-Rasas, one of Jordan’s most important archaeological sites, which contains several Byzantine-era relics, including a church with stunning mosaic floors.
Throughout the trip, Dr. Nada Al-Rawabdeh delivered on-site lectures to the students and participants, discussing the history of the archaeological sites and the significance of preserving them. This journey provided a unique opportunity for interaction with Jordan’s rich heritage and insight into the latest research and studies focusing on these historic locations.
