The Impact of Earthquakes on Archaeological Sites A Scientific Lecture at the College of Archaeology and Tourism

On Sunday, March 17, 2024, the Department of Cultural Resources Management and Conservation​ at School of Archaeology and Tourism hosted a scientific lecture titled "The Impact of Earthquakes on Archaeological Sites," presented by Dr. Mohammad Al-Tawalbeh, holder of a Ph.D. in Seismology from the University of Adfosh Lawrence in Hungary.

During the scientific lecture, Dr. Al-Tawalbeh addressed the impact of natural disasters, such as earthquakes, on archaeological sites, focusing on the sites of Beit Ras and Um Al-Jamal.

The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Professor Dr. Najib Abu Karaki, former President of Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, and the former Dean of School of Science at the University of Jordan. Also in attendance were the dean and vice dean of the School, along with faculty and administrative members of the department, in addition to students.

This lecture represented a valuable opportunity for academic exchange and to learn about the latest research and developments in the field of earthquakes and their impact on cultural and archaeological heritage.
