School of Archaeology and Tourism celebrates the International Day for Monuments and Museums

Representing the President of the University of Jordan, attended the ceremony held by the Faculty of Archaeology and Tourism at the university to mark the International Day for Monuments and Museums, which falls on the eighteenth of April each year.

The celebration was attended by the President of the Friends of Jordanian Antiquities Association, Her Highness Nawwafah bint Nasser, the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Ziad Al-Rawadieh, the Vice Dean, Dr. Mona Saleehat, and members of the administrative and teaching staff of the faculty, along with representatives from various entities including the Jordanian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Royal Tank Museum, the Jordanian Museums Association, and the Department of Antiquities.

In his speech, Al-Rawadieh welcomed the attendees, noting that museums represent the cultural treasury of nations, serving as a language of communication between civilizations. He emphasized that what we see today in museums' shelves reflects the culmination of the skills and knowledge of nations throughout the ages.

During his speech, Al-Rawadieh denounced Israeli attempts to obliterate Palestinian civilization and heritage to steal the original identity of the land and its people, affirming that these actions contradict human values and international laws.

It's worth mentioning that Her Highness Nawwafah bint Nasser is a graduate of the University of Jordan in 1996 with a Bachelor's degree in Archaeology. She holds a Master's degree from the University of London in Cultural Tourism, and has been serving as the President of the Friends of Jordanian Antiquities Association since 2011, which was established in 1992.

On the sidelines of the celebration, Dr. Amish inaugurated an exhibition of photos and folk heritage at the University Museum's courtyard, which was established alongside the founding of the university itself in 1962. Initially housed in the Faculty of Sharia, it was relocated to its current location in 1986 with the establishment of the Folk Heritage Museum.
